When to Visit the Golden Triangle?
In fact, there is no “bad” time to visit the Golden Triangle in India. All you need to pay attention to is the weather.
As with any other destination, the Golden Triangle area has the most pleasant weather window. In the Golden Triangle, this time is from October to mid-April, with temperatures in the 70-90°F range.
We visited the area in January and found it to be perfect weather for us. It wasn’t too hot or too cold. For beautiful photos, it is important that you are comfortable walking around outside and looking for good weather.
You may have heard that summers in India can be brutally hot. For this reason, we recommend avoiding the months of May and June, when temperatures can reach 115 degrees F.
Monsoon season is from July to September. Although heavy rain usually only happens in bursts, it can ruin your travel plans.
How to get to the Golden Triangle
The best way to travel between the cities of the Golden Triangle – Delhi, Jaipur and Agra – is by car. However, we do not recommend that you drive yourself in India if you have never driven there before.
Trust us, driving habits and rules are very different in India. The fastest, safest and most economical way to travel around the Golden Triangle is with a private driver.
We went with Kipling India Tours and it was great. The driver was very skilled and kept us safe even in terrible traffic. More on that in a minute.
Rail travel in India has never been more comfortable with a choice of air-conditioned first and second class coaches. Fares are low, so traveling across India by rail is a good option. For example, a train journey from Delhi to Agra takes about 2 hours and costs about 20 USD.
